In Search of Lost Time

Black lines run above the windows, doors and its frames. They create geometric shapes. From the distance one can see an eye, then the second, a straight nose and a small lip. The face reminds of a different time, from another place. Are these hands resting on the glass?
A figure, squeezed behind the windows, is starring at the viewer. tears run down its face.
Hands supporting the window pane. But wait, the figure is not behind the architecture, its in front of it. Stuck between the door frame and the window sill. The lines of the drawing begin to blur with the lines of the traditional viennese house façade, there is a clash between the straight black lines and the opulent stucco. The figure seems to literally dissolve both in time and space.
By using the language of advertising, socialist realism, Slavic heritage and architectural ornaments Gašper Kunšič creates a unique formal language.
He re-conquers the aesthetics of political regimes and ideologies, by putting a personal layer over them.
